Charles V. Pollack, MD, is a senior physician and clinician-scientist at in the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Department of Emergency Medicine. An international expert in Knowledgable about thrombosis and antithrombotic therapy, he is the solewas the first physician on whom the American College of Emergency Physicians has bestowed its highest honors in both research and teaching.
Charles V. Pollack, MD, has additionally earned distinction as the first US emergency medicine physician honored by the European Society of Cardiology as fellow.
Dr. Pollack attended Emory University and graduated summa cum laude, completing bachelor’s degrees in history and chemistry, and subsequently working toward an MAS in the history of science and medicine, all in four years. He received the Ross McLean Award for most outstanding work by a first-year graduate student in history. He received his doctor of medicine from the Tulane University School of Medicine.
Charles V. Pollack, MD, is the author of hundreds of textbook chapters and original articles, abstracts, and textbook chapters in his field, including those that explore therapeutic pathways involving novel pharmaceuticals. In 2019, he presented on “Omadacycline Treatment of Acute Bacterial Skin and Skin Structure Infections in Intravenous Drug Users” at the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine’s annual meeting in Las Vegas.
He led the pivotal Phase 3 trial in the development of the first specific reversal agent for a direct oral anticoagulant, idarucizumab, and was the first author in two New England Journal of Medicine articles for that work.
